The Creative Process Ideas And Theories

In addition to understanding the 'How To Have An Idea' lecture I was also set a task in relation within my seminar session, this task was to show my current thinking method of how I produce ideas though the creative design process. The way I portrayed this was by an illustrated step by step process of how I myself structure my work and keep to a timeline. I decided in this lesson to produce a rough draft of my process so that I could display a range of ideas to my peers and fellow students and later on produce a neater digital version later on.

My Creative Process Ideas Sketch

Once the seminar was coming to a close, my peers decided that it would be a good idea to explore others creative processes around the class, giving insight on the way other designers think and work.

What I found quite commonly among the group was a large amount of characteristics which I could relate to. Things such as listening to music and seeing visual content to get one inspired, even complications like procrastination were also among common trends. I feel it gave me a more natural insight of designers, showing that everyone has complications when designing; finding common ground on how to problem solve and that group discussion is very relevant among designers.

Here is a written timeline of what my usual creative process intales:

Struggle With A Concept - Look For Visual Inspiration - Look Into Artist Research - Listen To Ambient Music To Increase Focus - Have An Idea - Decided If The Idea Has Relevant Properties - Produce A Design Idea - Reflect On Design Idea - Make Any Improvements - Design A Range Of Ideas With Some Variations - Decide On Final Outcome Purpose - Make Intial Ideas - Gather Any Other Relevant Research - Finalise Idea - Gather Feedback - Improve On Final Idea - Finish Project
